Position Title: Co-op Student - Individual Claims Case Manager
Reports To: Manager, Specialized Client Care & Individual Claims  
Department:
Individual Claims
Term: Temporary Full-Time, Four (4) Month Contract
Work Term: May 5, 2025 – August 22, 2025



Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.



What you will be doing:

  • Administrate and set up new incoming Life, Critical Illness and Disability Claims.
  • Collaborate and participate with team and internal teams on projects and process enhancements.
  • Order medical information from various sources externally.
  • Gather, review and input pertinent information to assist adjudicators and paying claims
  • Interact with Underwriting, Medical Director, Legal and Compliance to resolve some claim matters.
  • Co-ordinate and participate on Special Projects within the Department and cross-functionally.



What you will bring:

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary program that includes a Co-operative (Co-op) work component
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, and experience in the interpretation of medical information is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail and prioritization skills
  • Bilingualism in written and spoken French is an asset
