Term: Permanent Full-Time
Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

The Lead Technology Specialist position offers a compelling opportunity within one of our Individual Insurance agile teams. In this role, you will collaborate closely with key leaders to comprehend business needs and support strategic objectives through technological solutions. This position entails partnering with a cross-functional agile team to develop, test, launch, and refine solutions aimed at optimizing the Individual Insurance servicing experience. The responsibilities include designing, developing, and unit testing code, while delivering on the objectives set by business partners. The Lead Technology Specialist must adhere to best practices and guidelines, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of objectives, requirements, and specifications in collaboration with the delivery team.
What you will be doing:
- A strong technical background with high proficiency in .Net, .Net Core, C# and GIT
- A solid knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, Transact SQL, ADO.NET and Entity Framework
- A working knowledge of API development including RESTful services and tools such as Postman and Swagger
- A working knowledge of technologies like LINQ, Regex, JSON, XML, XSD, SOAP, and WSDL
- Strong experience with troubleshooting and resolving issues pertaining to Compilation errors, Runtime errors, Performance issues and Debugging complexities
- Experience with CI/CD like Azure DevOps
- Coding experience in React, Angular
- Strong experience with tools and development frameworks such as PowerShell, NPM, VSC, GIT, Docker, K8S, ReactJS
- Strong experience & understanding in Infrastructure as code applied to DevOps, DevSecOps, cloud security best practices and well architected framework.
- Demonstrated knowledge of web/mobile design and object-oriented programming practices
- Understanding of architectural concepts
- Support the implementation of corporate policies, standards, and procedures that provide effective architecture, governance, and management.
- Perform hands-on configuration and troubleshooting of hardware and/or application software.
- Provide technical leadership for more junior team members, oversee solution implementation to ensure compliance with security, and governance.
- Support IT Management in directing and assigning work, scheduling, mentoring and upskilling, and handling escalations within a team of Technology Specialists
- Involve others in planning and executing, and in so doing, gains their buy-in.
- May be required to complete work outside of normal business hours to meet project deadlines and support weekend implementations, may be required to participate in rotating on-call shifts.
What you will bring:
- 7+ years' experience in IT: 3+ years in Senior Technology role with multi-domain experience.
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the following or related discipline: computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering.
- Multiple advanced technical certifications as outlined in the Specialty Requirements section below.
- Hands on working knowledge of React, Next.js, NET, C#, PWAs, APIs, Azure DevOps/Cloud, SQL, and Design Library Systems
- Experience with agile practices, scrum delivery, test automation and Azure Pipelines
- Experience leading other developers on projects; task and priority setting, working with business partners, etc.
- Working knowledge of responsive design and grid principles
