Position Title: Senior Technology Specialist, Information Security

Reports To: Senior Technology Manager, Information Security

Department: IT
Term: Permanent Full-Time



Work Arrangements
: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.


The Opportunity: Reporting to the Senior Technology Manager, Information Security, the Senior Security Specialist is a technical security expert promoting secure architecture and design at Equitable Life. In this role, you will work to support both projects and day to day operations with the security operations team.  You will be the technical SME working to architect, configure and run the vulnerability tooling platform.  You will work with cross functional teams to support vulnerability identification, reporting, and remediation efforts to improve the security position of Equitable Life.   This role will also be the technical SME supporting the client identity management platform.  You will work to support the client identify management project team(s) and the day-to-day operations of the client identity management platform.  Providing consulting and advice to support client identity and access initiatives.

What you will be doing

  • Run the vulnerability identification and reporting platform. Work with key stakeholders to communicate vulnerabilities and remediation status.
  • Run the client identity access management platform. Work with cross functional teams to deploy and integrate technologies into existing business platforms and processes.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to senior management and technical teams. Support the design, deployment, configuration, and monitoring/evaluation of a secure hybrid environment (on premises and Cloud) across the network and technology stack.
  • Define and communicate security requirements with business and technical teams for projects and operations.
  • Perform planning, deployment, testing, and documentation of new security solutions or enhancements to existing security solutions in accordance with security best practices and policies.
  • Provide recommendations on risk treatment.
  • Participate in the creation of enterprise security documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines, and procedures)
  • Whenever required, participate in investigations and troubleshooting security related issues
  • Research and propose new solutions (including cost and effort estimates) as required.
  • Whenever required provide support and backup to other security operations team members.
  • Perform other duties as required

 


What you will bring:

  • Minimum 10 years in information technology, with 5 years of progressive experience in information security
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in Information Technology or equivalent
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) certification or equivalent is an asset.
  • Hands on experience in planning, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing security systems on premises and cloud.
  • Experience with Rapid 7 Vulnerability Management
  • Experience with Okta/Auth0 Identify and Authentication Management
  • Experience with Palo Alto firewall/VPN/IPS/IDS, Splunk SIEM, SASE Secure Web Gateway, PKI Certificate Management, Container Security, Secure Development Lifecycle, Microsoft Defender for Endpoints/Identity/Cloud Apps, Azure firewall, Akamai WAF (Web Application Firewall), Azure Key vault, Azure IaS, Azure Active Directory PIM, Conditional Access, Exchange Online Protection, DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) preferred.
  • Experience documenting design and run states
  • Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational and planning skills
