Position Title: Product Owner – Digital Experience
Reports To: Director, Digital Experience
Department: Individual Digital Experience Team
Term: Permanent Full-Time
Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
The Opportunity: Equitable is growing! We are looking for a Product Owner to join our Individual Digital Experience Team!
We are on a digital journey and as the Product Owner you will take ownership of the web client/advisor features and support/motivate the delivery teams while building relationships across Individual to ensure our success. As a Product Owner, you will plan, manage, and prioritize features from start to finish ensuring they meet our clients needs and align with our Portfolio.

What you will be doing:
- Breakdown features into user stories with robust acceptance criteria while prioritizing the backlog and communicating to stakeholders.
- Engage squad members to collaborate, promote ownership and accountability of tasks, and maintain continuous improvement attitude.
- Continuously review the client/business needs, refine priorities, outline milestones and deliverables while identifying opportunities/risks.
- Contribute to the roadmap and conduct quarterly planning based on Epic priorities with your squad to confirm capacity and track to delivery.
- Coordinate releases within Individual engaging partners for pre/post validation and organize schedules within Equitable to ensure no impacts to our clients.
- Facilitate and attend agile ceremonies such as refinement, sprint planning, demos, and daily huddles.
- Be the expert in defining capabilities and clearing pain points to support the best experience for our clients while articulating the value/ROI.
- Track and monitor digital analytics to client-centric measures to ensure targets are achieved.
- Mange stakeholders and communicate outcomes, progress, and facilitate planning meetings.
What you will bring:
- Insurance or financial industry experience
- 1-2 years experience as a Product Owner
- Product Owner Certification (CSPO, SAFe POPM, PMI-ACP) preferred
- Experience using agile methodologies and human centered design principles to deliver value in a fast paced, matrixed environment
- Understanding of digital analytic tools
- Ability to effectively define MVP, iterative release plan and use of roadmap to align OKRs to accept or reject new work.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical capability, with the ability to define and resolve complex issues.
- Excellent influencing and interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and advocate for our partners.
- Ability to articulate the future experience that is compelling while defining value creation and how it will increase client satisfaction.
- Ability to gain a deep knowledge of the business domain and technology.
