Are you interested in working in a dynamic and fun team environment? We are looking for a Permanent Part Time Recreation staff member who can help us run a wide variety of programs that assist our residents to achieve maximum physical, mental, emotional and social potential. 

Responsibilities:

As a Recreationist, you will plan, organize and conduct group and individual programs for the residents, while also following guidelines regarding referrals or instructions signed by the Medical Director and/or professional therapists.  Your work may also involve liaising with outside agencies/other recreationists, professional organizations to promote positive growth of the role.  Attention to detail is imperative, as you will be recording and reporting resident progress, establishing program priorities, scheduling, and program evaluations.

• Competitive compensation - $27.66 to $28.09/hr (2024) with 14% in lieu of benefits and 4% vacation pay, paid each pay.

Qualifications:

• Must have a post-secondary Diploma or Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university.
• You have the ability to handle physical task demands and have good working knowledge of Peterson-Gunn theory of Activation/Recreation.
• 1 to 3 years experience in a geriatrics environment or equivalent of qualifications and experience.

Conditions of Employment:

• Successful completion of a police record check with vulnerable sector clearance.
• Satisfactory TB documentation.
