The Sales Representative is responsible for driving new sales, revenue and grow the business within their assigned territory by proactively pursuing new customers and business opportunities. The Sales Representative will also maximize sales opportunities within a portfolio of existing customers.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Actively pursue the development of new business by identifying and calling on potential new customers to initiate and build business relationships
- Presenting East Penn Canada products, warranties and customer service capabilities towards the end of closing a sale
- Work with Sales Management and Key Account Representatives to establish territory goals and developing customer target lists, using information from trade magazines, social media awareness, business directories and other sources
- Build relationships with potential customers to develop rapport and provide support that will continually improve the relationship with the goal of gaining a commitment to purchase
- Maintain an up-to-date and active pipeline managed through CRM
- Properly service key and national accounts that exist within territory
- Establish and maintain solid partnering relationship with local site management; provide a trusted advisor perspective
- Communicating sales and advertising programs to dealers and clients
- Support the delivery setup for new product to customer
Experience, Skills & Competencies
- Post-secondary education in a business, sales or marketing program
- 5 to 7 years of progressive direct business-to-business outside sales
- Strong customer focus with the ability to coach others for exceptional customer service orientation.
- Ability to build long-term relationships and credibility with the customer as well as internal support functions (e.g., marketing, operations)
- Ability to think outside the box to creatively trouble shoot, identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to complete effective presentations
- Ability to handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences towards a win-win solution.
- Strong project and time management skills to meet deadlines under
- Excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking ability
- Results-oriented, self-starter and highly motivated
- Strong computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, online inventory systems, sales management system.
- Knowledge of industrial battery applications and specifications.
- Experience within in the industrial, telecommunications or utility sectors an asset
Other Considerations
- Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract required
- Overnight travel approx. 20% (2 nights per month)
- Background checks including criminal checks and employment references will be requested
