We are looking for a Director of Primary (JK - Grade 3) to join our Wentworth Campus leadership team. This role works closely with the faculty, staff, parents and families to ensure an efficient operation of the school while preparing students for meaningful lives. The ideal candidate will be a passionate and committed educator who will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the many facets of school life. This is a Full Time Permanent position that will start in the 2025-2026 school year.
Responsibilities
- Support and promote the school’s mission, values, and sense of community through student-centered decisions.
- Collaborate with the Wentworth leadership team to develop and implement strategic objectives.
- Oversee daily operations and smooth functioning of the JK-3 primary division.
- Effectively communicate policies and practices with students, parents, and staff.
- Maintain high visibility and accessibility to students, parents, and faculty.
- Prioritize a safe, respectful and healthy learning environment through a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Foster positive dialogue and engagement with families that strengthens the parent-school partnership.
- Support positive student growth and development while managing behavior and discipline with a restorative and compassionate approach.
- Liaise with partner schools, ISABC, CAIS and other organizations to build expertise and promote Collingwood.
- Assist with staffing, including interviewing, hiring, mentorship, reflective practice, and evaluation.
- Collaborate with the Admissions team on prospective family discussions, open houses, student assessments, and enrolment decisions.
- Partner with the Advancement team to support fundraising initiatives, events, and to direct donations.
- Work with the Parents Council to enhance class representative communication and initiatives.
Preferred qualifications and experience
- Bachelor of Education
- British Columbia Teacher Certification
- Master's in Education or related field (asset)
- CAIS Leadership Institute Diploma (asset)
- 5-7 years of teaching experience (elementary school)
- 5-7 years of leadership experience in education
- Experience in hiring, supervising and evaluating teachers
- Strong understanding of the BC Curriculum and Early Learning Framework
- Familiarity with Junior Kindergarten Child Care Licensing Regulations
- Knowledge of independent schools and CAIS accreditation standards
- Proven leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
- Strong ability to engage with students, faculty, and parents
- Flexible and team-oriented approach with a sense of humour
- Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada

The hiring range for this position is from $120,000 to $150,000. Candidates with strong skills and experience may be considered for a higher starting salary.
