About the Role:
Global Peterborough’s News Department is currently seeking a full-time Videographer to join the news team. Reporting to the News Manager, the successful candidate for this position will be required to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, weekdays, nights, and weekends. This is a Group 3 position under the current collective agreement.
You will contribute by:
- Generating and pitching original story ideas.
- Writing, producing, shooting, and editing content for CHEX News at 6 on Global Peterborough, CHEX News at 11 on Global Peterborough and Global News morning Peterborough.
- Live on-camera reporting, both on location and in studio.
- Publishing video content to our website and social media channels.
- Establishing and maintaining a network of news contacts throughout Peterborough and the surrounding region.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and experience you will bring:
- Post-secondary education in Broadcast Journalism, or related field.
- Previous work experience in broadcast and online journalism is considered an asset.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
- Strong on-air presentation.
- Camera experience and familiarity with non-linear editing.
- Willingness to adapt to changing technology and workflows.
- The ability to effectively solve problems and troubleshoot while dealing with the unexpected.
- Ability to handle the demands and pressure of tight deadlines and breaking news.
- Proven ability as a team player with a positive attitude.
- Great communication and organizational skills.
- Experience or interest in weather and/or sports broadcasting would be considered an asset.
- Valid class “G” driver’s license with clean driving abstract.
