Senior Worker- Community Living Services

ROLE PURPOSE
This position will assist the manager in providing orientation, training, work direction and guidance to employees working in the Community Living Services department – Community Living Workers and/or Residential Community Living Workers (Integrated Adult, Youth and/or Child Worker and Residence Worker). Provide supportive services aimed at assisting individuals to live successfully in the community. This involves working closely with a variety of community agencies such as Community Living BC, Forensics, Probation, Mental Health & Correctional Services of Canada (Parole). Work with Managers to support and monitor the client’s goals and/or conditions. Provision of daily physical, emotional and social support to enhance each client’s potential for personal development.

SHIFT HOURS
Full Time- Candidates 40 Hours/Week.
Rotations as follows:
- Sunday- Thursday (7am- 3pm)

REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports and is accountable to the Manager of Community Supports or their designate
- Liaises with staff and volunteers of community and government agencies as required
- Liaises with the staff, managers and on-call manager of Connective as necessary
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assist the manager in providing orientation, training, work direction and guidance to employees working in the Community Living Services department (CLW/RCLWs) by performing duties such as clarifying program policies, reviewing work and scheduling CLW/RCLWs. Provides input to performance evaluations
- Participate in, schedule and assign the regular duties of a CLW/RCLW
- May oversee the operation of the program in the absence of the manager or as directed
- Participate in various client-focused activities
- Gathers information relevant to the client’s challenges, needs, and risks, by interviewing and observing behavior, meeting with caregivers and service providers and using a variety of inventories, checklists and questionnaires
- Recognize, analyze and deal with potential emergency situations, such as client’s aggressive behavior to ensure no harm comes to the client and/or the public. Report events to the manager
- Provide access to and/or administration of medication for clients in accordance with established agency policy
- Assist with case management by identifying potential challenges and reporting any difficulties. Provide input regarding the development of appropriate program and individual plans to achieve supported individual’s objectives. Contribute to the evaluation of individual’s progress and prepares reports
- Provide daily support and feedback to supported individuals
- Transport and assist individuals to appointments when required
- Maintain reports on individual clients’ activities, progress toward goals and provide updates to manager regularly to ensure the program is meeting contract deliverables
- Assist with and provide coaching to CLW/RCLWs regarding client case notes, referrals, and care plans
- Identify social economic, recreational, and educational services in the community that will meet client’s needs. Maintain liaison with other agencies, professionals, government officials and the community
- Assist Manager in conducting program audits and/or evaluations
- Participate in scheduled staff, team and community meetings as directed
- Effectively utilize various agency systems and technology platforms
- Perform other related duties as and when required
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Function independently, while remaining a crucial member of the support team
- Adhere to Connective’s policies and procedures
- Be available to work flexible hours during the daytime, evenings, and weekends based on operational needs and program requirements
- Be on call as per the collective agreement
QUALIFICATIONS
- Two (2) years related experience working with clients experiencing mental health issues and either have psychiatric training, or possess a diploma in a related Human/Social Service field
- Experience with clients who are part of the criminal justice system, experiencing mental health issues and/or developmental disabilities and may be interacting with social agencies

Compensation
The wage range for this position is $30.75 to $35.29 per hour as per collective agreement
