ROLE PURPOSE 

This role provides efficient, timely and effective maintenance services within our housing network.A typical day would include providing preventative maintenance services, unit turnover repairs, and troubleshooting unexcepted equipment failures.Typical maintenance and repair issues within the organizations facilities and operations include (but are not limited to) plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall, and painting.

Exempt. This position is open to applicants of all genders.

SHIFT HOURS

Full Time- Candidates

Rotations as follows:

  • Sunday- Thursday (8:30am- 4:30pm)

REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS 

  • Reports and is accountable to the Manager, Facilities and Maintenance Services or their designate 
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, clients and partners 
  • Liaises with the staff, managers and residents as necessary

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  

  • Maintain and repair units upon vacancy.This typically includes: 
    • Plumbing
    • Electrical
    • Carpentry
    • Drywall
    • Painting 
  • Perform preventative maintenance according to HVAC and Plumbing system schedules
  • Proactively identify any deficiencies or maintenance issues
  • Maintain and repair door lock entry systems
  • Provide seasonal snow removal and de-icing 
  • Assisting in conducting spot, quarterly, semi-annually and yearly inspections including the writing of inspection and incident reports
  • Utilizes online maintenance management software to organize and prioritize work plans
  • Maintain exterior grounds of various Connective properties
  • Respond to emergency calls after-hours and, if necessary, calls in emergency repair requests to vendors
  • Complete and maintain an inventory of equipment, parts and supplies
  • May assist in training, assigning and checking the work of contractors
  • Performs work that requires strict adherence to safety procedures and practices 
  • Utilize tact and diplomacy and refer tenants to other staff where appropriate
  • Exercise interpersonal and conflict resolution skills when dealing withresidents
  • Operates Employer's vehicle(s) including trailers to load, unload and deliver materials, tools and equipment and/or Employer's assets
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Knowledge and experience working with building management systems
  • 3-5 years maintenance experience
  • Trade certificate or experience is a strong asset
  • Knowledge of WorkSafeBC safety regulations
  • High mechanical aptitude
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft office (Excel and Word

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Ability to successfully completeCriminal Records Checks
  • Class 5 driver’s licenseand valid driver’s abstract
  • Use of personal transportation (truck) that is in good repair, insured for business up to $1,000,000 for liability
  • Required to provide confirmation of flu vaccination each year or wear a mask during the flu season
  • Be able to lift upto 50 lbs
  • Able to provide a complete immunization historyand TB skin test results
  • Proof of vaccination for communicable diseases may be required as mandated by Government, Health Authority, and/or funder requirements.

Compensation

The wage range for this position is $30 to $35 per hour as per collective agreement 

 

Important: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, observe their weekly hours limit if under a temporary or study visa, and provide proof of eligibility if selected for the role.
