Casual Justice Support Worker

ROLE PURPOSE
Our Community Residential Facility provides safe and secure wraparound support to individuals on parole or conditional release with residency conditions from federal institutions. This program provides 24/7 staffing to ensure individuals receive the support they need to succeed while reintegrating into the community. We work closely with residents to provide structure, monitoring and support related to every aspect of their reintegration efforts such as obtaining housing, personal identification, medical coverage, banking services, and recreational opportunities.
This position will provide support to residents who are transitioning from correctional institutions to the community, easing their transition and assisting in their reintegration efforts. You will work with residents according to their individual risk and needs, maintain the goals of the federal program, and ensure the orderly and safe operation of the facility.
HOURS
In Surrey:
Days (06:00 – 14:00)
Evenings (14:00 – 22:00 or 16:00 – 00:00)
Overnights (22:00 – 06:00)
- Casual employees must be available for at least 21 shifts per month in which 7 are overnight shifts.
- If you are working full-time, or if you are a full-time student, we ask you for 15 shifts of availability per month in which five are overnight shifts (this is subject to employer or enrollment proof).
These positions require the ability to work flexible hours during the daytime, evenings, and weekends based on operational needs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
As a Residence Support Worker Justice, your responsibilities will include:
- Provides input to the Program Manager and other staff about the development and progress of appropriate care plans to achieve residents’ objectives
- Maintains client files including statement of goals, case/care plans, summaries, case notes, reviews and closing reports
- Ensures residents are in compliance with the terms of their residency and are aware of the rules of the facility
- Identifies social, economic, recreational, employment and educational services in the community that will meet the needs of the client
- Supervises the activities of the residence, its residents and volunteers, while on shift including maintaining case notes and the logbook
- Along with the other residence staff, monitors and ensures effective operation of the facility including quality control concerning cleaning equipment, indoor and outdoor maintenance, inventory and food services
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENRS
We seek candidates who meet the following qualifications and requirements:
- Graduate with a Diploma or Certificate in relevant field with one year of related experience
- Counselling experience in the appropriate field and demonstrate a clear ability to respond well in crisis situations
- Ability to satisfy the requirements of the residence contractor in regard to previous criminality as deemed necessary
- Awareness of Correctional Services Canada (the contractor) concerns, laws and policies related to the specific residence program
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Successful completion of Enhanced Security Clearance and reference checks
- Completed TB Screening
- Current Emergency First Aid Certificate
- Permanent Residency or Canadian Citizenship
COMPENSATION
As Connective is a unionized environment, the starting wage is $25.95 per hour plus 10.6% in lieu of vacation pay and benefits (for casual positions). The wage will increase with every 2,000 hours worked up to a maximum of $29.76 per hour.
