ROLE PURPOSE

The Intermediate Accountant will ensure that Connective has financial information that is timely, accurate, and can be fully relied upon to support the needs of operational management and strategic planning of the agency.

 

LOCATION

Vancouver, BC.

 

STATUS

Exempt. This position is open to applicants of all genders.

 

HOURS

40 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 0830-1630.

 

REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports and is accountable to the Financial Controller or their designate
  • Participates as a member of the Connective Administrative Support Team
  • Liaises with staff and volunteers of community and government agencies as required
  • Liaises with the staff of Connective as necessary

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Accounts Receivable

  • Manage all rent collections in collaboration with Infrastructure and Program Teams
  • Maintain and input data into Property Management Software
  • Upload and reconcile entries between Property Management and Accounting Software
  • Review and record bank deposits related to rent collections
  • Coverage of other accounts receivable functions

 

Other Duties

  • Assists with month end and year end processes
  • Assists in the training and development of the junior finance team members
  • Ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Function independently, while remaining a crucial member of the support team
  • Adhere to Connective policies and procedures
  • Be available to work flexible hours as needed. May include some evenings/weekends, as determined by the regional office needs and schedules.

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Successful completion of a university degree or diploma in accounting
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or working towards it considered an asset
  • 3 years of hands-on experience in full cycle accounting
  • Familiarity with accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations, internal controls, and financial reporting
  • Familiarity with accounting systems
  • Prior experience with property management is an asset
  • Willingness to learn new skills and provide input to improve current processes
  • High proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
  • Ability to organize and manage time efficiently
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills (listening, verbal and written)

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to successfully complete a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Records Check
  • Ability to successfully pass a reference check
  • Proof of vaccination for communicable diseases may be required as mandated by Government, Health Authority, and/or funder requirements.

 

 

COMPENSATION

 

Annual salary will be negotiated based on experience and qualifications. This role will also be eligible for Connective’s comprehensive Exempt Benefits Package.

Important: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, observe their weekly hours limit if under a temporary or study visa, and provide proof of eligibility if selected for the role.
