ROLE PURPOSE

 

This position will provide casework and support to residents of Connective’s programs to enhance their quality of life, to ensure the orderly and safe operation of the facility, and to maintain the goals of the counselling and/or rehabilitative plans.

 

Our Supportive Housing program provides safe and secure housing and wraparound support to people at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness. This program offers 24/7 support services that are tailored to the self-identified needs and goals of each resident.

 

 

STATUS AND CLASSIFICATION

  • Unionized. This position is open to applicants of all genders.

 

HOURS 

  • Shift Hours: Monday to Sunday: 0800 - 1600; 1600 - 0000; 0000 - 0800; 
  • Casual employees must be available for at least 21 shifts per month in which seven are overnight shifts.
  • If you are working full-time, or if you are a full-time student, we ask you for 15 shifts of availability per month in which five are overnight shifts (this is subject to employer or enrollment proof).

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

As a Tenant Support Worker, your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Participates in the assessment, goal setting, and program planning - such as Personal Service Plans - for individuals living semi independently. Documents and implements the plan and provides input into the evaluation of the program.
  • Evaluates client needs and develops short term plans to meet such needs with the
  • active participation of residents and their families.
  • Works directly with additional staff (i.e., Social Workers and Outreach Workers), community service and support providers, government and non-government organizations, and First Nations service providers to implement individual support plans consistent with harm reduction and Connective’s philosophies and practices.
  • Assists residents to function more independently in their own homes and in the community. Assists residents with daily life skills, social skills, and/or behaviour management.
  • Recognizes, analyzes, and deals with potential emergency situations such as aggressive behaviour(s) to minimize potential harm to others and/or the public.
  • Ensures health and safety standards are maintained.
  • Maintains oversight of the building as required to mitigate conflict amongst residents and/or other persons accessing the property.
  • Completes regular and routine walk-through checks of the property and immediately
  • surrounding area.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENRS

We seek candidates who meet the following qualifications and requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to respond efficiently in crisis and escalated situations
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Records Check
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate
  • Food Safe Level 1



COMPENSATION

As Connective is a unionized environment, the starting wage is $25.95 per hour plus 10.6% in lieu of vacation pay and benefits (for casual positions). The wage will increase with every 2,000 hours worked up to a maximum of $29.76 per hour.
