Operator, Roads Services
Do you have a background in road repairs and maintenance, experience operating and maintaining equipment (hand tools, grinders, wheel loader, trailers etc.) in either a municipal or construction environment?
This full-time position is 40 hours per week, and is required to work weekdays, and on-call evenings and weekends; on-call response time must be within 30 minutes of the Town of Cochrane. This position works outside in extremes of hot or cold temperatures, in areas of poor air quality (dust, pollen etc.). This position is unionized in the Teamsters bargaining unit.
The successful candidate must have excellent customer service skills, ability to work independently and in a team environment, and demonstrated time management skills and mechanical aptitude. The successful candidate must have a minimum 3 – 5 years’ heavy equipment operator experience, possess experience in road repairs and maintenance and operating and maintaining equipment within a municipal roads environment, or a construction environment, and an Alberta class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement (Q).
At the Town of Cochrane our Roads Operations' Team ensures the safety and efficiency of the Town's transportation infrastructure including but not limited to regular maintenance of roads, bridges, and sidewalks, including pothole repairs, resurfacing, snow removal, snow plowing and ice control, street cleaning, signage and signals, etc.
