What You'll Get to Do
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, and under the supervision of the Master Electrician, the Electrician Apprentice is responsible for electrical maintenance and repair of related equipment and facilities within EIC buildings and other structures including new construction projects as required. In addition, this role will provide service to EIC subsidiary companies and Third-Party Contractors as well as Calm Air International.
- Undertake electrical installations and repairs under the guidance of your journeyman
- Install, replace, and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels
- Test, install, replace, or repair circuit systems to ensure compatibility and safety of system
- Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components
- Assisting the leadership team with the day-to-day management and coordination of facility projects
- Conduct routine electrical maintenance on buildings/facilities
- Responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time
- Ensure compliance with all internal safety standards
- Provide service to other EIC subsidiary companies as well third-party contractors as required
- Assisting the facilities manager with facility maintenance related projects
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Experience We Value
- Positive attitude and a motivated work ethic
- Electrical or construction experience considered an asset but not required
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and complete projects within tight timelines
- Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Restricted Airport Identification Card (RAIC)
- Must have reliable source of transportation
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Travel is a requirement of this position
- Inuktitut language considered an asset
- Preference will be given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries
