Position Conditions:  This is a part-time posting with option to move to full-time permanent.  It will be offered in accordance with conditions identified in the Collective Agreement between the City of Brandon and E911/Police Operator-Dispatcher Division.

 

Rate of Pay: (During Refresh Training and Post Training): $29.15 per hour (Step 1) - 2024 rates.

 

Closing Date:  11:59pm, Thursday November 21, 2024

 

Screening will include a review of discipline and attendance history, as well as demonstrated performance of excellent communication, interpersonal, analysis, teamwork, and customer service skills during their previous employment with the City.

 

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Public-Safety Communications Operator-Dispatchers receive emergency and non-emergency calls for Police, Fire, and Ambulance from the public, contact the appropriate responding agency, and provide Fire and Police Dispatch as required.

 

The City of Brandon is currently accepting applications from former employees of the Brandon Public-Safety Communication Centre who have left the City of Brandon within the last four years and are interested in part-time or full-time employment as a Public-Safety Communications Operator-Dispatcher. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Candidates successful in this competition will have been signed-off on either one or both sides of the centre, have held a valid security certificate and will continue to meet the qualifications for the position including:

  • Ability to keyboard a minimum of 40 wpm;
  • Declaration of no major change in vision or hearing; and
  • Satisfactory results from a criminal background investigation for the period not employed with the Brandon Public-Safety Communication Centre.
