POSITION SUMMARY:

The Pharmacy Services Representative provides support to the Pharmacy Services and Provider Relations team as well as Member Services staff, Providers, and other Manitoba Blue Cross departments in addressing provider registrations, prescription drug claims, coverage and adjudication queries.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides support services to members, pharmacies and patient support programs for complex prescription drug coverage and claims adjudication inquiries
  • Monitors Pharmacare registrations and follows up with members and pharmacies as required.
  • Provides support in processing Special Authorization requests for medications and diabetic supplies in conjunction with the Team Lead, Pharmacy Services.
  • Maintains BlueNet pharmacy providers.  Registers and coordinates agreements with new pharmacies and updates files as necessary. 
  • Determines the eligibility of Providers for the Claims department, and eligibility for web registration.
  • Contacts providers for claims information.
  • Contacts Provider Associations to respond to Claims inquiries.
  • Provides support to the Provider Relations team to assist with the maintenance of all Provider listings.
  • Assists in the development of new procedures and job aides, when applicable.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Dedicated to the principles of exceptional service, committed to responding to, anticipating, and addressing customer needs, for both internal and external customers. 
  • Post secondary degree, certificate, or diploma in Commerce or Business Administration or discipline related to Health Benefits industry.  Equivalent combination of education and 2 to 5 years’ experience may be considered.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize several activities on an ongoing basis.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and mathematical skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel and e-mail software.
  • Ability to work efficiently within prescribed time limits and specific deadlines.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Capable of completing industry education programs entailing a self-directed study and the writing of graded examinations.  Specific programs include but are not limited to LOMA, CEBS, and ICA.  Enrollment in, and completion of, such courses will be encouraged.
