Board Member
The Board of Directors of Burlington Enterprises Corporation (BEC) is seeking applications from qualified candidates interested in serving on the Burlington Hydro Inc. (BHI) Board of Directors.
BHI is a regulated and licensed affiliate subsidiary of BEC – an energy services company wholly owned by the City of Burlington. BHI provides electricity distribution services to approximately 69,500 residential and commercial customers in Burlington.
The BHI Board of Directors is responsible for guiding a successful and well-managed company that serves a growing community. We are seeking leaders and strategic thinkers who understand the business and public policy issues inherent in the successful operation of regulated electricity distribution businesses in Ontario today.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Successful senior leadership experience in business or institutions, ideally with expertise in human resources and/or corporate finance
- Experience dealing with government and regulatory agencies, with an understanding of the Ontario electricity distribution industry
- Prior board experience, particularly within a regulated business or agency, is an asset
- A professional Director designation (e.g., C. Dir or ICD.D) is also considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of corporate governance and strategic planning
Candidates must demonstrate the criteria of honesty, integrity, independence, and personal solvency. Preference will be given to individuals who are residents or business owners within the City of Burlington, as their local knowledge and community involvement are highly valued. A modest compensation is offered.
