The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for the completion of parts and assemblies within Coatings (Blast, Prime and Paint) – Air, Electrical and Hydraulics’ (AEH) and Final Assembly (FA)departments. The cornerstone responsibilities of this role are Safety, Quality and Duration, and to maintain our overall schedule of production. 

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Create Schedule to have reporting departments produce in alignment but with overall production schedule.
  • Establish manpower requirements based on scheduling and budgetary goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement through the effective use of all inventory and resources, the management of productivity and workflow, the streamlining or implementation of processes and procedures, the increase of efficiencies, and the elimination of waste.
  • Communicate job expectations to all team leads, and productive personnel.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment by ensuring work is performed in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with company policy and government legislation.
  • Active Supervision with hands-on approach is required on hourly/daily basis.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Guidance of Coatings, Air, Electrical and Hydraulics and Final Assembly.
  • Communication with Pre-delivery Inspection (PDI) Team for upcoming completed work win the Departments.
  • Work in partnership with Material Handling team.
  • Help develop/update work instructions to be used for standardized work.
  • Develop and supervise a regular cleaning schedule to ensure the work areas are held to the Aspen Standard.  
  • Assist in the recruitment, training and disciplinary processes.

Experience and Education

  • Requires 3-5 years of experience in Manufacturing, raw material(s) to Finished goods.
  • Familiar with a variety of manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures that involve Coatings, AEH systems and mechanical assembly (FA).
  • Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Previous experience supervising Tradesperson(s) and apprentices within a manufacturing team
  • Experience with an ERP or database system. Preferably Visual manufacturing.
  • Red -Seal Journeyman certificate considered an asset (Trailer Mechanic, HET off-road/on-road and Welding).
  • Experience with fundamental knowledge heavy haul trailers an asset.
  • Six-sigma or other lean credentials considered an asset.

  • Regular exposure to industrial shop hazards which require additional protection from noise, fall hazards and air quality.  
  • Fast paced environment with tight deadlines.

Shift Availability

  • Days Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm
