About the role
Work from Home| Blended Role | Calgary/ Edmonton
This Calgary or Edmonton based Business Development Representative will be responsible for driving and growing new business revenue in the Greater Calgary or Edmonton area and throughout Alberta. This is a client-facing sales position requiring a proven sales ability, skill for closing sales and the ability to build key relationships.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Develop the territory by building strong relationships and marketing ALS’ services to existing and potential clients;
- Identify and develop target lists for potential new business clients and market sectors;
- Plan and perform sales visits and cold calls as required, to meet regional revenue goals;
- Provide clients with requested information on all aspects of ALS operations, both general services and specific technical information with the assistance of laboratory staff;
- Assist in the communication between ALS and their clients, through follow up on pricing, billing, and technical issues;
- Assist in the preparation of sales brochures, price lists, and any other marketing materials required to improve the effectiveness of the sales team;
- Participate in weekly sales meetings and provide weekly progress reports;
- Attend and represent ALS at tradeshows, industry seminars, and conferences;
- Lead, organize, and participate in client events, seminars, workshops, and presentations;
- Prepare quotations and proposals as required, and follow up on these quotations and proposals to track successes and failures;
- Assist in the preparation of larger proposals as required;
- Track public Requests for Proposals (RFP);
- Work within the sales team to maximize sales, customer service and efficiency;
- Participate in operational and client service meetings as required;
- Supply management with contact reports, weekly reports, and monthly/quarterly sales plans;
- Maintain knowledge of environmental criteria and guidelines, as well as laboratory capabilities and service offerings;
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent English communication (written, reading, verbal), with confident public speaking ability;
- Excellent interpersonal and sales skills, with the ability to network with key individuals;
- Strong computer skills;
- Preference for experience with Contact Management Software (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce);
- Problem solver who enjoys finding solutions;
- Energetic self-starter capable of working independently;
- Excellent organizational skills.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to spend up to 20% of your time travelling;
- This position will require work outside of regular work hours occasionally.
- Ability to assist with booth set up and carrying of small boxes for trade show set up.
- Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
