Operations Control - Intern, IOCC
Reporting to: Operations Control Manager
Location: Calgary, Palmer Hangar
Schedule: Four days on shift followed by four days off, based on a 12-hour workday
Closing Date: March 31, 2025
Hourly rate: $22
Please note: This is a temporary intern position from May to August 2025.
The big picture:
The Operations Control Intern role provides hands-on learning experience within the aviation industry. The intern will primarily support the Flight Following team by ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant monitoring of AirSprint aircraft according to established standards and regulations. Additional responsibilities may include exposure to travel coordination tasks, such as evaluating hotel accommodations for crew and assisting with select flight support functions.
In this role you will:
- Monitor the location and status of all active and scheduled flights, ensuring detailed and timely updates are communicated to the Owner Services team and Duty Managers
- Maintain awareness of weather conditions on-route, bringing any potential issues to the attention of the Duty Managers.
- Ensure efficient and effective communication through maintaining radio communication with active flights.
- Proactively update customs and Fixed Based Operators (FBOs) on flight schedules, changes and anticipated arrival times as required.
- Proactively communicate and coordinate with the Owner Services team to provide timely updates on flight schedules, changes, and anticipated arrival or departure times.
- Actively communicate and coordinate with the Owner Services team to ensure arrangement of Owner’s requests for ground logistics are aligned with the flight schedules.
- Assist with researching, evaluating, and maintaining databases of hotel accommodations for crew at each airport, if required.
- Assist the Flight Support team with arranging operational logistics, such as coordinating with third-party services, if required.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Control Manager.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Enrolled in a post-secondary education program.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Restricted Operator Certificate (ROC-A). If the incumbent does not obtain this certification, it will be included in their training.
