Broadband Construction Technician

What you’ll do:
- Responsible for all aspects of construction, installation, and repair of the broadband infrastructure with a focus on providing an exceptional customer experience.
- Repair or replace faulty cables, broadband electronics, coaxial, and fibre optic cables as required.
- Ensure documentation is updated daily related to work performed.
- Use advanced equipment to conduct signal leakage monitoring and broadband forward and reverse sweeps as required.
- Complete all duties of manhole work in accordance with policies, such as permit documentation, gas testing, etc.
- Perform all work in accordance with WCG policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
What you’ll bring to the team:
- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent is required.
- Minimum of 2-year post-secondary education in a related field (such as Electronics or Telecommunications) or relevant courses/certifications (such as NCTI or SCTE) is required.
- Knowledge of or experience in electronic or network installation and repair, or residential wiring/construction is required.
- Ability to read and understand fibre optic & broadband plant maps, with an understanding of construction wiring practices.
- Ability to obtain and maintain certification in Basic First Aid and CPR C.
- Must be comfortable with heights (ladder work) and confined spaces, and be able to carry up to 75 lbs.
- Must be willing to travel with the potential of extended stays away and be on-call for emergency services as needed.
- Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license.
