Network Architect

What you’ll do:

• Design, plan, implement, and test the core network infrastructure used for service delivery to residential and business customers.
• Monitor capacity and plan network expansion to support traffic growth.
• Lead the implementation of complex Core IP & OTN projects including new builds migrations, and optimization; consult with users, provide cost analyses, project plans, and coordinate tasks. 
• Collaborate with vendors and carriers to improve product offerings and platform enhancements.
• Work with upstream peering partners for expansions and changes.
  Assess and enhance current security practices/hardware and help improve firewall infrastructure.
• Prepare and maintain detailed network level architecture documentation (diagrams, processes, and procedures).
• Assist in the development of network business continuity strategies, working closely with stakeholders to implement and enhance.
• Ensure required software upgrades are applied to the core network components in a timely manner after proper testing and documentation.

What you’ll bring to the team:

• Minimum 2-year diploma or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
• One or more approved information technology certificates and/or technology related training, such as the CCNA, is required.
• Minimum 5-years’ experience in IP networking, IP routing and switching, and OTN is required. Within an ISP or MSO environment is preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of technical fundamentals of the internet and IP Protocols including but not limited to: 
  • Ethernet, VLANs, Spanning Tree, LACP, MLAG
  • IPv4, IPv6, ICMP, ICMPv6, TCP, UDP
  • OSPF, EGP, BGP, IGRP, RIP, ISIS, VRF, MPLS, VPLS
  • IP Multicast – SSM, IGMPv3, PIMv2
  • VXLAN Bridging and Routing, MPLS VLL
  • DHCP, DNS, TFTP, SNMP
• Proven Knowledge of last mile access technologies (DOCSIS, PON etc.) and fiber transport technologies (DWDM, Coherent optics etc.).
• Proven knowledge of routing, switching, voice media gateways, SIP/TDM trunking etc..
• Proven knowledge of MS-Visio, Lucid Chart or other diagram software, as well as scripting language for task automation (PHP, Python etc.).
• Must have knowledge of Linux support issues and RF fundamentals as it applies to cable networks.
• Must be available for occasional after-hours emergency support as required. 
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and must be bondable.
