Part Time Term Position

The FNUniv President’s Office in Saskatoon is looking to hire a Research Assistant to support the strategic planning process from November 1, 2024 – Dec 30, 2024. This is a part time position with 40 - 60 hours total, depending on assigned tasks. The successful candidate must be able to commit to the full duration of the work assignment.  

 

Experience with public speaking, facilitation, data analysis and writing is required for this role.

 

This position is ideally suited for an individual with an interest in Indigenous history in Canada, Indigenous social and governance issues, and, systems change work. The Research Assistant must have experience working with Indigenous Elders and Traditional Knowledge Keeperr, and must possess a well-rounded knowledge of Indigenous research methods, and Indigenous world views.  

 

Key Duties:

  • Check facts, dates and other content items (text and media) for accuracy. 
  • Proof-read for grammar and readability. 
  • Check for accessibility standards.
  • Assist in content research and assist in writing, and rewriting. 
  • Liaise with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and outside media creation contractors to ensure accuracy and accessibility are maintained.  

 

Key Competencies:

  • Must be proficient in navigating Microsoft 365 applications using a computer. 
  • Possess above excellent attention to details and facts. 
  • Ability to cope with tedium and repetitive tasks. 
  • Fluency in English required. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Possess a well-rounded knowledge of Indigenous history in Canada, Indigenous social and governance issues.  
  • Must respect Indigenous world views and follow Indigenous research methods 
  • Possess an interest in post-secondary education systemic change. 
  • Must have experience with Indigenous research methods, data collection, data analysis and report writing.
  • Ability to work independently. 
  • Demonstrated research, analytical, organizational and planning skills and the ability to prioritize and work well in a high-pressure, multi-task environment and as part of a team, with the ability to shift between and among different initiatives. 
  • Possess persistence and ability to fact-find.  
  • Ability to communicate with multiple team members and outside contractors. 
  • Ability to work within, and accurately update established templates and process documents. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Masters Degree in Indigenous Studies or Humanities degree program or equivalent (i.e., Indigenous Studies, Indigenous Health Studies, Social Work).

 

Reporting:

The Research Assistant reports directly to the President, FNUniv.
