Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Advisor & Director, Business Planning, the Business Analyst is involved in the design or modification of business processes or IT systems. The Business Analyst interacts with the business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand their problems and needs. The analyst gathers, documents, and analyzes business needs and requirements and bridges the knowledge with IT and various other departments. It is an important position that plays a critical role in deciphering the future systems and processes for many businesses.
Responsibilities
- Facilitating discussions to capture the business needs and translating them into requirements for change. This change could be to streamline business process, implement new software, enhance existing system, by:
- Gathering requirements through techniques, such as, but not limited to:
- One-on-One Interviews
- Workshops
- Prototyping
- Walkthroughs
- Documenting the requirements as, but not limited to:
- Business Requirement document
- Functional Requirement document
- User Stories
- Creating additional project supporting documents, such as, but not limited to:
- Requirement Traceability Matrices
- Test Plans
- Test Cases
- Production Support documentation
- Create User Guides
- Training Guides
- Gathering requirements through techniques, such as, but not limited to:
- To ensure the business requirements are met by:
- Create Test Cases
- Test the development work
- Create and update development team of defects
- Test the deployment in production
- Create User Guides
- To aid the business in coordination, communication and completion of tasks for a specific goal by effectively managing a team with specific roles and tasks, by:
- Facilitating meetings
- Creating Project Charters
- Capturing and enforcing Action Items and Decisions
- Creating Communication plans
- Providing regular status updates to projects

Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Business or Computing
- 3-5 years of experience in working with IT on system implementations and/or enhancements, business process improvements and business process re-engineering.
- Certificate of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA) and/or Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis would be considered an asset.
- Experience with Atlassian products such as Jira, Confluence, and others.
- Equivalencies may be considered.
