Information and Data Manager
MISSION
The Information and Data Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization’s data management, governance, and information strategy. This role involves ensuring data accuracy, availability, and security while supporting the organization's strategic goals through effective data utilization. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, experience with data management tools, and a thorough understanding of data governance principles.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees OSI’s global data stewardship, treating data as a strategic asset. Aligns data structures with company policies, safeguard data security and integrity, and drive efficient information retention and lifecycle management. Key responsibilities include:
Data Management and Governance:
- Develop and implement data management policies, procedures, and standards to ensure
- data integrity, quality, and security.
- Establish and maintain data governance frameworks to ensure compliance with regulatory
- requirements and industry best practices.
- Oversee data lifecycle management, including data acquisition, storage, sharing, archiving,
- and disposal.
- Data Strategy and Utilization:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define and execute the organization’s data strategy.
- Identify opportunities to leverage data to support business objectives and drive decision[1]making.
- Lead the development and implementation of data analytics initiatives to provide actionable
- insights.
Data Architecture and Systems:
- Design and maintain the organization’s data architecture, ensuring it supports current and
- future data needs.
- Manage the selection, implementation, and maintenance of data management tools and
- technologies.
- Ensure seamless integration of data across various systems and platforms.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze data to generate actionable insights for business decision-making.
- Create and maintain dashboards, reports and visualizations.
- Support data-driven strategies and initiatives.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Lead and mentor a team of data professionals, including data analysts and
database administrators.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making within the
- organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and provide
- appropriate solutions.
Compliance and Security:
- Ensure data privacy and security by implementing robust data protection measures.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with data-related regulations and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA.
- Conduct regular data audits to identify and mitigate risks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related
- field. A master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in data management, data governance, or a related
role.
- Proven experience in leading data management and governance initiatives.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of data management principles, data governance frameworks, and
best practices.
- Proficiency with data management tools and technologies, such as SQL, ETL processes, data warehousing, and data visualization tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business
requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop
staff.
- Significant experience working within a team setting but having individual assignments with
relevant accountabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively
with stakeholders at all levels.
- Organized and able to manage the intake of many parallel requests and then prioritize, act
and communicate back to requestors in a timely manner.
- Having worked under a certified quality management system and/or within an environment
with security clearance is considered an asset.
- Willing to pursue formal certification such as CISSP, CDMP, CIMP, CAP, DGSP, CISA
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards related to data privacy and security.
