The Opportunity
We are looking for Operations Summer Students to support the Field Operations teams with peak seasonal workload at our South Pipeline Operations and Carbon facilities including the Sturgeon and Stonefell Terminals and the Carbon Compressor Station located outside Fort Saskatchewan, AB. These positions will work a schedule of 4 days on 3 days off – 10 hours per day. The individuals in these roles must live within reasonable driving distance from the Fort Saskatchewan, AB area for the duration of the role. Please note that no relocation assistance is provided or this role.
WORK TERM: 4 Months – May – August 2025
Key Responsibilities
- Site & Office maintenance – vegetation control, painting, site wide housekeeping, sampling, and pumping water
- Maintenance of pipeline crossings - Vegetation control, signage inspection-repair, inspections
- Perform routine plant operational duties at the facilities under direction of a qualified plant operator
- Operations support on low-risk tasks - sampling, site checks, Right of Way (ROW) crossings, sign installation/replacement
- Provide and assist with creative solutions and effective problem solving of issues that arise in the plant environment e.g.) Troubleshooting, flagging deficiencies and recommending changes to current practices
- Assist with updating current inventory and general record keeping in our support program
- Assist site administrator with general administrative duties, file migration to Sharepoint, digital checklist creation or improvements, HSE data collection, other support as required
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- This position is open to post-secondary students enrolled in a degree, certification, or trade program
- Recent graduates are not eligible for this opportunity. You must be returning to school after finishing the Summer Student placement
Skills and Experience:
- High attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Previous operations experience is beneficial but is not required for this role
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and satisfactory abstract
- This is a safety sensitive position and successful candidates will be required to successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment
