How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:
The Intern, Infrastructure Planning and Permits (IPP) in Development & Engineering Services (DES), under the direction and guidance of IPP staff and management, will assist planners with drafting reports, data entry, and file administration within the Infrastructure Planning and Permits business unit.
Major Responsibilities:
- Under direction and guidance of IPP staff and management, assists and supports business units within the division with basic clerical work.
- Assists staff with data entry and the coordination of data requests.
- Assists staff with the basic review/screening of Planning Act, EA legislation, Ontario Regulation permit applications and general inquiries.
- Assists in drafting correspondence, presentations, and reports, while making recommendations for operations/program improvements.
- Assists staff and management with minor studies, basic projects, basic reports, and minor applications.
- Assists Planners with basic follow-up with proponents as required.
- Under the direction and guidance of IPP staff and management, organizes site meetings and assists or shadows staff on these site visits
What will you need to succeed:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)
- Recently completed a post-secondary program in Planning, Resource Management, Urban Geography, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Engineering.
- Valid Ontario Class G2 driver’s license.
Knowledge/Skill/Ability – Competencies
- Ability to work professionally with others.
- Ability to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines.
- Ability to write clear correspondence.
- Sound time management and organization skills.
- Team player with experience working in a group environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint.
