How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:
The Field Staff, Restoration & Infrastructure performs a variety of field work activities which support environmental projects and programs delivered by the Erosion Risk Management, Restoration and Resource Management, Construction Services, or Professional Services teams.
Major Responsibilities:
- Participates in inspection of erosion hazards and erosion control infrastructure.
- Assists Erosion Risk Management team with inspections and fieldwork.
- Performs quality control of previously completed records, supports geospatial and other data clean-up initiatives.
- Operates rugged field laptops and other devices and equipment to take and record measurements in the field.
- Executes a number of general field work duties related to specific project/program area.
- Collects and inputs field data according to project scope.
- Ensures that quality control and assurance measures are followed at all steps of the work process.
- Assists with maintenance of equipment and vehicles, performs circle and other health and safety checks. Reports potential maintenance requirements to supervisor.
- Maintains equipment (storage, organization, minor repairs).
- Incumbents may also be assigned other duties.
What will you need to succeed:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
- Minimum pursuing a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field.
- Valid Class G2 Driver’s License.
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C Certification.
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- Familiar with basic equipment and power tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, seeking the appropriate level of support to solve issues.
- Proficiency in MS Office for general office communications (e.g., e-mail, spreadsheet and word processing software, including online enablement software such as MS Teams and SharePoint).
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, related regulations and legislation.
- Required to lift or carry objects that could weigh up to 45lbs.
- Familiarity with flood control channels and erosion control structures is considered an asset.
- Familiar with map, plan, and air photo interpretation.
