The Role
Reporting to the Manager of Public Works, the Supervisor, Fleet & Facilities is accountable for the administrative and leadership needs of the fleet & facilities management business units. The Supervisor is accountable for the maintenance of the assigned Town owned fleet & facilities and sites to meet the functional demands of user groups and to manage the operational needs of fleet & facility representatives from various Town departments. This position provides leadership to the team and professional and knowledgeable direction and advice to the organization and Council related to the maintenance of all Town owned facilities and sites. The incumbent will be the Town’s subject matter expert on fleet & facility maintenance and will be responsible for developing and implementing a fleet & facility management strategy, asset management and long-term facility/building life cycle plan. This role is responsible for providing leadership, mentorship, development, and direction to the Facilities Management Team.
To be successful the successful candidate will require a Certified Facility Manager designation and/or Institute of Asset Management (IAM) certification. Post-secondary education related to facility management (facility management, Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), etc.) or an accreditation/certification in a related trade (e.g. journeyman carpenter, plumber, electrician, power engineer, millwright, building operator, boiler operator, etc.) with five (5) years’ experience in the respected trade. Five (5) years’ experience in facilities management, project planning, construction management, business management, or related field. Experience and demonstrated ability to lead a team. Significant knowledge of the practices, procedures, and principles used in all aspects of Building Maintenance and thorough knowledge of building operation such as plumbing systems, electrical systems, hydronic and air handling systems, and other related building systems.
