Housekeeping / Laundry Summer Students

Valleyview Home is looking to hire Housekeeping/Laundry Summer Students to work on a part time basis to help augment the workforce during the summer months.  

 

Duration and Availability:

  • The duration of this contract will be approximately four (4) months.
  • Shift times will be either 6:00am – 2:00pm or 6:30am – 2:30pm.
  • This will include scheduled shifts, call-ins, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must be available and willing to work weekdays and most weekends.

Position Description:

  • Performs varied tasks to ensure the provision of the Home's housekeeping program for resident’s rooms. Duties include, but are not limited to, cleaning, dusting and wet mopping floors, walls, windows, woodwork, furnishings, light fixtures, and washrooms - including fixtures.
  • Cleans dining rooms and serveries following meals.
  • Laundry duties may include sorting, handling, washing, drying, and folding linens and Residents’ personal clothing. Participates in the inventory of resident’s clothing, labelling same and tracing lost articles.
  • Delivers linens and residents’ personal clothing to the Resident home areas.
  • Verbally communicates and interacts with residents, supervisors, co-workers, family members, visitors, and other departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a University or College program. Must have attended the previous school year full time and will be returning to the next school term full time.

 

Conditions of Employment:

  • Successful completion of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within the last six (6) months).
  • Satisfactory TB documentation.
  • Must meet all applicable provincial directives with respect to COVID-19 immunization/testing.

 

Remuneration: $19.68 per hour (2024 rate). This is a Unifor local 27 union position.
