Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Manager, People and Culture is responsible for developing and implementing best practice Human Resources programs, policies and procedures, along with managing all aspects of Team Member relations, benefits and development. The candidate will also be responsible for developing and leading through initiatives, projects and processes that impact the organization’s culture and its people.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Recruitment, Hiring, Onboarding, Offboarding, Succession Planning:

  • Develop strategies to identify talent; establish and conduct equitable and inclusive recruitment and hiring processes for all Team Members.
  • Manage and conduct general organizational onboarding and orientation for new Team Members.
  • Manage and conduct offboarding of Team Members, including exit interviews; analyze data to surface potential cultural issues or other staff concerns; make recommendations to the Executive Team for continuous improvement.
  • Proactively identify new leaders and build opportunities for growth and promotion.

 

Organizational Culture:

  • Develop, communicate and administer HR policies and procedures that maintain and improve Team Member relations and shape organizational culture.
  • Serve as HR contact for all Team Members; proactively engage Team Members to improve working relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention; communicate openly and frequently, keeping staff informed on benefit resources, organizational events and other pertinent information.
  • Implementing engagement initiatives such as team-building activities, recognition programs, and team events.
  • Steward a culture of learning, growing and having fun.

 

Professional Development & Performance:

  • Assess organizational needs; work with the Executive Team to identify professional learning and growth opportunities to support Team Members ongoing professional development.
  • Provide coaching and resources to help resolve and prevent interpersonal and team conflicts and adapt to different leadership styles.
  • Develop and oversee the annual performance management process, ensuring alignment with business goals, driving continuous improvement, and providing strategic coaching to leaders on performance enhancement.

 

HR Administration:

  • Manage all HR administration, including benefits programs; manage relationships with benefit brokers, and address Team Member benefits questions.
  • Preparing precise reports and submissions to the Canadian Revenue Agency.
  • Managing WCB claims, invoicing, and reporting.
  • Providing effective leadership to the human resources team, including guidance, mentoring, establishing work priorities and goals/objectives, and evaluating performance.
  • Reconcile and report on year-end functions.
  • Oversee Team Member complaints and incidents, including conflict resolution, accidents, health and safety concerns, work refusals, and investigations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resource Management or possess equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Human Resource management.
  • Well-versed in Alberta Labour Standards.
  • Experience facilitating the development and training of an HR team.
  • Experience implementing and utilizing payroll, HR software and Office 365.
  • Extensive knowledge of, and experience managing, Team Member benefits programs.
  • Experience organizing and executing presentations, training groups, and team events.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • CPHR or other relevant HR certification is considered an asset.
