The Opportunity: Postmedia is seeking an experienced digital Product Manager that will report to the Senior Director of Verticals, to support in the development and execution of our new vertical websites. The ideal candidate is a strategic and innovative thinker with a strong business acumen who is focused on delivering the best user experience, while considering business impact. Comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities as well as the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholder needs in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment is necessary. Work experience in media and knowledge of AI implementations are preferred. As Product Manager, you will have the exciting job of helping shape the vision and strategy of our vertical network brands. You will be responsible for developing and guiding products, translating market requirements into bite-sized user stories while also positioning, packaging and promoting our solutions for our users. You will iterate continually in an Agile development environment to grow audience, improve user engagement and provide an enjoyable and intuitive experience for our readers.
What you will do:
- Define, refine & execute on the roadmap in collaboration with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Develop business cases and PRDs (Product Requirements Document) and iterate based on insights from qualitative and quantitative data, market trends, competitors, and user research.
- Lead day-to-day scrum activities and technical teams, prioritize the backlog, coordinate planning, provide clarity on requirements, remove roadblocks, and understand technical limitations.
- Assess vendors and own contract relationships related to integrating external tools, technology, and content to support the product’s development.
- Work with the Go-to-Market, Marketing, Audience, Design, Research, and other cross-functional groups to successfully launch products.
- Manage OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) to meet targets and deliver results.
- Think strategically about the vertical and continuously identify, analyze, and solve ambiguous problems and/ or capitalize on business opportunities.
- Collaboration with UX/UI & research to define and create story boards, user journey maps, and user stories to create innovative and user-friendly products and customer-facing features
- Manage the prioritization, planning and task delegation for multiple projects and maintain a sense of urgency that is needed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Successfully influence stakeholders without formal authority, leading cross-functional teams, and business units.
- Technical fluency; comfort understanding and discussing technology concepts, schedule trade-offs and new opportunities with technical team members.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree, engineering or computer science.
- 3+years of digital Product Management experience
- Software development methodologies and tools –JIRA, Agile.
- Analytical and quantitative skills; experience using analytics, data, and metrics to test theories, confirm assumptions, and measure success.
- Knowledge and experience with AI tools and implementations.
- Web technologies such as HTML, WordPress, CSS etc.
