The Opportunity:

The Daily Press, a member of the Postmedia family of newspapers and located in Timmins, ON, is looking for an energetic, experienced Multimedia Journalist to fill a full-time vacancy in our editorial department. We are looking for a journalist who is comfortable covering a wide variety of news and — when required — sports assignments and who has a passion for community-based journalism.

Qualifications:

• experience in community news reporting in a weekly or daily newspaper setting, including the ability to cover live events and write interesting features;

• a demonstrated ability to write crisp, engaging stories with attention-grabbing leads and meaningful quotes for multiple platforms;

• excellent interviewing skills, demonstrating an ability to establish an excellent rapport with sources;

• the ability to fill in on the sports side of the editorial department when required;

• strong organizational and time management skills;

• strong digital photography and videography skills;

• familiarity with Postmedia’s Citrix-based pagination system would be an asset;

• ability to converse intelligently with readers in all phases of social media;

• the successful candidate must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
