Molding - Cell Lead - D Shift
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Molding Shift Supervisor, the Molding Cell Leader is responsible for coordinating all work processes within the molding cell related to the packing and moving of product in a safe and efficient manner.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
Plant and Machine Safety
- Ensure all [full-time, part-time and agency] team members are trained and performing in a safe and efficient manner.
- Be involved in the accident/incident program: gather information to assist the Shift Supervisor determine root cause and help implement corrective actions.
- Correct unsafe acts or conditions, ensuring health & safety policies are followed.
Perform daily-unplanned inspections. Ensure that inspection is appropriately documented
Ensure the Achievement of Production Targets · Assign Packers to position assignments within the cell, working with the other cell leaders and shift-supervisor to ensure that there is appropriate floor coverage. · Ensure production quality meets customer standards by confirming that Packers are performing their quality checks. Also, conduct periodical quality checks at the stacker equipment during the course of the shift. · Troubleshoot production & equipment issues, escalating issues that they are unable to resolve. · Monitor production levels compared to target levels and escalate to shift-supervisor when targets are not being met. · Understand shift performance targets and how they contribute enabling to Molding and Lee’s Summit Operations objectives to be met. · Monitor shift performance to ensure targets are being met. · Act as Packer relief from time-to-time.

Training and performance oversight · Identify gaps in team member performance · Recommend and plan necessary training to help and develop team member performance. · Providing coaching and feedback to reports, both positive and constructive, to help ensure that all team members are operating at an acceptable level · Escalate to the Shift Supervisor any performance issues that require disciplinary action · Support continuous improvement activities as implemented from time to time

Manage Shift Personnel
- Responsible for the leadership of all Packers
- Ensure that all team members are treated in an equal and fair manner, abiding by the company Standards of Conduct
- Manage and report absences, overtime, personnel moves and other exceptions to the Shift Supervisor
- Identify vacancies and manage day to day temporary labor requirements
- Manage the vacation schedule
- Manage activities of modified duties personnel on the shift
- Provide recommendation and input towards the Performance Improvement program including:
- Dealing with issues and providing timely feedback.
- Assist Supervisor in coaching and counselling Team Members as appropriate and required.
- Arrange for Quality Sorting support when requested.
- Arrange for Packers for the Printing Department when requested.
- Ensure that each shift you are responsible for is adequately staffed to meet the production requirements.
- Ensure adherence to standard work and provide timely feedback.
- Ensure cross-training and back-up support is adequate.
- Ensure Team Member information is correct and up to date; (address, phone number etc…)
- Identify and respond to all shop-floor issues arising among team members (i.e. conflicts, insubordination, safety, etc.), escalating any issues that cannot be resolved to the Shift Supervisor.
- Acknowledge and support team members performing their jobs in a positive fashion.
- Identify training opportunities; manage the training plan and keep the Training Matrix up to date.
- Provide Packers with supplies for shift. (Stock room supplies, pens, gloves, etc.)
- Assist Supervisor with Performance appraisals.

Administration
- Scheduling time off (with Shift Supervisor approval) for vacation, sick time, training, etc., for Packers. Ensure that all gaps are properly backfilled.
- Ensure routine communications sessions take place with the shop floor.
- Provide Line Inspection forms and ensure that they are filled out correctly on a daily basis.
- Conduct shift handover meeting to communicate with in coming shift.
- Attend the production communication meeting when required.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum Experience/Field: minimum 5 years’ experience in a fast paced, high volume Lean Manufacturing environment with minimum 2 years in a lead role.
Computer Skills: Good PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Physical Requirements:
× Work exclusively on the plant floor. The facility is air conditioned but there is constant exposure to moving machinery and noise. × Work and environment are very repetitious / unchanging. Noticeable pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands. Challenging situations are probable. × Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses at a time, where stimuli are changing × Responsible for supervising 16 to 21 Packers per shift × Must wear protective equipment when required. Protective equipment will be provided by the company |
Communication Skills: A skilled influencer with strong ability to positively impact desired behaviors. Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills
Additional Education/Experience/Skills: Ability to effectively coach, positively influence and support Team Members
