Facilities Maintenance Mechanic – Night Shift (11:30PM to 7:30AM)
Department: Facilities
Reporting to: Facilities Supervisor
Objective:
- To maintain Facility’s equipment to assure its uninterrupted operation.
- To maintain production ancillary equipment to achieve uninterrupted Molding and Printing production as scheduled.
- To perform & repairs of HVAC, and plumbing
- To perform maintenance & repairs related to building, offices, washrooms.
- To support ground maintenance activities in the winter (salting prior to shift charge)
Responsibilities and Duties: The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic’s duties / responsibilities are as follows:
- Ensures all safety, security and fire regulations and policies are followed for Facilities Equipment and Toronto building.
- Performs preventative maintenance procedures for Facilities equipment, Building, and Grounds as assigned by Facilities Supervisor and Facilities Engineer
- Makes recommendations for major repairs and purchases to Facilities Supervisor.
- Monitors and controls Building Automation System (I-Vue) to assure best operation of chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers to satisfy plant need of chilled and tower cooling water (including start-ups upon curtailment)
- Monitors and controls Compressed Air System (compressors, dryers and filters) to assure compliance with compressed air pressure required by thermoforming and the rest of the plant (including start-ups upon curtailment).
- Repairs Facilities equipment such as: water pumps, cooling towers, motors, supply and exhaust fans and vacuum pumps for molding and printing.
- Performs maintenance and repairs to material handling systems: rail car unloading system, vacuum pumps and motors, surge bins loaders, piping, and silo accessories.
- Montior roof top HVAC on BAS and request service if emergency occur
- Maintains and repairs to Keeprite & Carrier Air Handling Units, sprinkler systems, water, and all associated equipment.
- Monitors work performed by Mechanical, Electrical or Plumbing contractors in emergencies situations
- Maintains good housekeeping in Mechanical room and Facilities storage areas.
- Supports snow plowing contractor and gardener to clean external areas such as entranceways, sidewalks, and parking lots using manual brooms, rakes, shovels etc.
- Completes and maintains related records such as maintenance logs and security incident reports.
- Transports equipment, furniture and supplies manually and/or using aides such as dollies and carts.
- Operates Sky-Jack or Zoom Boom as required.
- Ensure energy savings and continuous improvement initiative are followed.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Performs all your duties with care and safely, due diligence and comply with industrial safety rules and company’s safety rules and policies.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education Requirements
- Industrial Millwright required.
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Knowledge of hydronics, pneumatics, and controls
- Fluent in English with good verbal and written communications skills.
Work Experience
- Five years of registered trade level experience in building and utilities maintenance
- Min 5 years’ experience in the Plastic Industry
- Familiarity with building automation systems
Training
- On-the-job training is provided by the company using the buddy system until the individual is completely familiar with workplace environment and equipment.
- Health and Safety, WHMIS, SQF policies and procedures are provided by Polytainers.
