Molding - Assistant Manager, Molding
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Molding Manager, the Assistant Molding Manager is responsible for positively influencing adherence to Molding production best practices in all aspects of the daily running of the molding department. The Assistant Molding Manager engages with the Shift Supervisors and Team Members daily to ensure day-to-day compliance with all Molding Production processes and procedures, to assist in follow up and resolution of daily production issues, and to establish and reinforce a learning culture.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
Maintain a High Level of Plant and Machine Safety:
- Together with the Shift Supervisors, the Assistant Molding Manager will ensure all Molding team members are trained and performing in a safe and efficient manner.
- Through regular and full communication with the Health and Safety Specialist, this role will ensure accident/incident investigations are carried out and documented to determine root causes, corrective actions and following-up to ensure completion.
- The incumbent will promote proactive identification and elimination of hazards and work with the Shift Supervisors to correct unsafe acts or conditions, ensuring health & safety policies are followed.
Support performance improvement actions when issues are identified.

Understand and support the targets for people, quality, delivery, and cost.

Report and Communicate
- The Assistant Molding Manager will attend and actively participate in daily Molding Production Meetings.
- Participate in the daily quality meeting.
- The incumbent will ensure regular and full communications sessions take place between the Shift Supervisors as well as by the Shift Supervisors on their shift, including completion and follow up on items listed on the ‘Molding Open Issues Board’.
- The role will ensure Department preventative and predictive maintenance plans are established and known to Production scheduling.
- The Assistant Molding Manager will conduct presentations to the Molding team as needed in ad hoc or regularly scheduled meetings to encourage flow of knowledge, information, and full communication in support of Molding objectives and actions.
- Perform Layered Audits as scheduled.
- Hold daily meetings with Supervisors and Process Technicians to discuss production and other matters.
Establish practices that support a learning and continuous improvement culture.
- The incumbent will work with the relevant stakeholders to establish and maintain training materials and set up a process for continuous learning and professional development for the Molding Team Members
- The role will require demonstrated leadership and support by meaningful participation in specific CI projects and Kaizens, as well as the promotion of a continuous improvement culture by communicating, encouraging, and supporting actions identified to improve processes or procedures on the Molding production floor.
- When deemed appropriate the Assistant Molding Manager will track and manage the execution and completion of Molding specific projects.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Educational Requirements: Undergraduate degree or diploma in the injection molding, plastics or mechanical field is a definite asset.
Minimum Experience/Field: 10 years of progressive leadership in a fast paced, high volume Lean Manufacturing environment with 3-5 years in a technical leadership role.
Computer Skills: Good PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
