The Role
The Inventory Specialist manages inventory control and supports OSI Supply Chain functions, including receiving, warehousing, shipping, and expediting, while maintaining a safe work environment. They ensure accurate computerized records of physical assets, support Production with work order fulfillment, and coordinate material transfers with Production Planners. The role also optimizes warehouse procedures and infrastructure, and collaborates with Shipping and Receiving to inspect, verify, and record shipments, ensuring alignment with purchase and sales orders.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the stock management system and address discrepancies with corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain procedures for inventory control processes to improve accuracy and reduce costs.
- Support the ERP system by managing stock profiles, locations, and updates for shipments, receipts, transfers, and adjustments.
- Conduct perpetual stock counts, cycle counts, and participate in the annual physical inventory.
- Accurately kit materials for Production, prioritize job picking with Planners, and handle shortage reporting for projects.
- Ensure incoming materials are stored as per project requirements and put-away items are correctly labeled and recorded.
- Assist Shipping/Receiving during peak workloads, including receiving goods, packaging, producing paperwork, and engaging transportation agents.
- Tag and inventory customer-owned goods, supporting proper handling and system updates.
- Maintain organized, secure inventory locations, replenishing stock as needed and ensuring workplace safety compliance.
- Collaborate on improvement projects to reduce errors, minimize costs, and optimize working capital.
- Support engineering requests for inspections and ensure visiting staff follow safety protocols (e.g., PPE).
You Bring
- 3–4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and a relevant diploma or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Strong knowledge of Supply Chain Management, Controlled Goods, customs regulations (Canada/US), and NAFTA.
- Forklift certification and experience with ERP/MRP systems (Epicor preferred) and Excel.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work additional hours or weekends as needed.
- Eligible for government security clearance.
