Position Summary:
Reporting to the Processing Supervisor, the Processing Technician is a crucial team member that displays accountability and integrity while taking ownership of their contributions to the processing of dried cannabis. The chosen candidate will be driven and analytical with superb organizational skills, able to quickly adapt to a fast-paced and changing work environment. The Processing Technician will work closely with the Processing Supervisor in all department matters.
Please note that the Processing Technician will work in a physically demanding role and will be required to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion, lifting, bending, reaching, walking, standing, and performing repetitive work.
Key Responsibilities:
• Communicates effectively with the Processing Supervisor.
• Completes daily objectives with strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Complies with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) under the Cannabis Act.
• Completes tasks related to the milling and blending of cannabis (inputs & outputs).
• Completes the regulatory Processing documentation with a high degree of accuracy, including completing intermediate mathematics and calculations.
• Cleans and maintains processing equipment as required by Health Canada.
• Contributes to company values, collaborating with team members and department leads to optimize processing related SOP’s; and work instructions (WI).
• Displays active involvement in troubleshooting cannabis issues and/or quality deviations.
• Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Ability to follow the documented workflow while monitoring for any possible quality variations.
• Ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations, including math equations and problems involving fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, calculating square root.
• Ability to complete detailed paperwork within required timeframes with a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to maintain focus, with a high level of attention to detail, while adjusting pace of work to meet required deadline.
• Demonstrated willingness to learn and take direction.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data collection.
• Capable of working both independently as well as in a team environment.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Must be physically fit with an ability in varying working conditions such as, but not limited to cool, dry temperatures and working with strong Cannabis odors indoors.
• Flexibility to work shift work as required, including an ability to work 12-hour shifts.
• 1-2 years of experience in food manufacturing and/or in pharmaceutical manufacturing environment would be considered an asset.
