Position Summary:
Reporting to the Packaging Supervisor, the Packaging Technician - Nights will be a key component to maximizing the safety, quality, and productivity in our daily operations throughout all departments. The ideal candidate will display strong problem-solving ability and take initiative to meet dynamic and changing needs and requirements of the department. The Packaging Technician will work with various equipment, materials, labels, and devices with safety in mind while using good production practices (GPP’s) in conformance with the Cannabis Act.
Please note that the Packaging Technician will work in a physically demanding role and will be required to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion., lifting, bending, reaching, walking, standing, and performing repetitive work.
Key Responsibilities:
• Use scales to weigh product according to standard and process materials such as dried cannabis with precision and accuracy;
• Always ensure a clean work area;
• Dispense product into its primary packaging;
• Place labels on products with care and according to standard;
• Complete comprehensive record keeping, daily paperwork, and compliance checks;
• Inspect products for defects, report any findings;
• Manually package products, stack pallets for distribution;
• Clean and maintain Cannabis processing and packaging equipment;
• Collaborate with related departments to optimize processing and packaging related SOP’s;
• Engage in troubleshooting and look for quality deviations or production constraints;
• Other duties as required.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Experience in food manufacturing and/or in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment would be considered an asset;
• Previous packaging experience would be considered an asset;
• Good communication skills (written and verbal);
• Demonstrated willingness to learn and take direction;
• Ability to retain focus and strong attention to detail;
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment;
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work;
• Willingness to work in varying temperatures with an ability to tolerate the smell of Cannabis;
• Flexibility to work shift work as required, including an ability to work 12-hour shifts.
