Position Summary

 

We are looking for an inspirational Director of Project Management Office with strong leadership and organizational capabilities that can immediately contribute and help us tackle the challenges that arise from our rapidly growing business.   The incumbent will lead the PMO team and is responsible for all Business Initiatives or Information Technology projects in the organization as well as help manage the relationships between Technology, Business leaders and our external business partners.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Project Management Office (PMO) and project intake requests. Plan, coordinate, monitor and implement technical and/or non-technical business programs to meet organizational goals.
  • Lead waterfall project management if required within agile team or with business stakeholders
  • Oversees and provides guidance to the Team Members responsible for the organization’s projects. Defines and develops project / program management best practices, processes and policy to ensure alignment with corporate strategy and goals that are fit for purpose.
  • Lead Organizational transformation projects such as systems upgrades, new market entry and other strategic multi-year initiatives.
  • Guide the Agile team and organization to ensure the best use of Scrum & Kanban practices and values.
  • Support the Scrum Master on the execution of all Scrum & Kanban events or ceremonies.
  • Maintains the efficiency of important aspects of the project management process such as planning, scheduling and budget and risk assessment.
  • Supervises project managers, analysts, specialists and external resources to ensure all projects within the scope of the PMO are delivered within defined scope, quality, time, and cost requirements.
  • Liaise various requests with IT infrastructure, capture requirements, manage the projects, provide visibility into tasks and report status along with having the ability to dig deep into the requirements for some of the projects
  • Help standardize organizational processes to increase efficiency
  • Develop risk management project approach and risk management adherence to minimize project risks
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members, PMO and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, presentations, and business cases, to various stakeholders (C-Suite and BOD level)
  • Key contributor to the evolution of the IT roadmap and IT investment strategy

 

Qualifications:

  • PMP designation or in progress (mandatory)
  • Minimum of 7 years of demonstrated successful project management experience (in Utilities industry an asset)
  • University Degree
  • Proven program management on large projects with external system integrators
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically MS Excel and MS Project
  • Working in an Oracle Utilities Software environment an asset
  • Proven experience managing large enterprise-wide transformational projects
  • Knowledge of MS Project or Sciforma project tracking an asset
  • Extensive knowledge of project management standards, processes, procedures and guidelines
  • Demonstrated skill in managing project budgets and timelines
  • Excellent analysis, problem-solving, team, conflict management and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to set clear expectations, manage team performance and build high morale among team members
  • Demonstrated experience managing or delivering IT Projects within outsourced and managed services environments
  • Familiarity with 5S, Kaizen Principles, Six Sigma or other Continuous Improvement methodologies is an asset
