To achieve this, we have developed The Globe® Pulsed Field System – we have a fantastic technical team that has developed a product with strong, unique, and customer-valued differentiators versus other solutions on the market. We have built connections with key opinion leaders who are already using the Globe System and are helping to tell our story. 

We have now completed our pivotal clinical study and our focus is on regulatory approvals and commercial launch. This is an exciting and significant milestone in our journey to bring this ground-breaking technology to patients. 

We are looking for a Senior Sustaining Electrical Engineer to help support the next generation of high-quality medical devices. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in the development and commercialization of complex and leading-edge medical devices. You will be responsible for supporting and improving the next generation of the Globe® Pulsed Field System.  

Please note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.

The Senior Sustaining Electrical Engineer position combines development and support responsibilities. You will work as part of a highly collaborative team to bring project pieces together. If you are passionate about DFM, DFT and design support and improvement, this is an excellent opportunity to fulfill this desire and ensure a top-tier medical device continues to meet customer needs.

Your responsibilities will include but not limited to: 

  • Review of current designs for potential improvements based on Design for Manufacturing and Design for Test principles.
  • Designing and implementing changes to the current designs to align with Design for Manufacturing and Design for Test principles.
  • Interfacing with manufacturers to identify and transfer appropriate testing activities
  • Specification and/or design of test fixtures and circuits for automated testing of printed circuit board assemblies
  • Complex system level debugging (e.g. multi-board systems with multiple processors, firmware, RF, communication links, etc.)
  • Supporting root cause investigations of technical failures
  • Supporting the NPI team with development and introduction of manufacturing processes for predominantly electrical products (e.g. controllers)
  • Supporting the service team with development of service procedures for predominantly electrical products (e.g. controllers)

What you bring to the team

Must-Have: Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering
  • Skills and knowledge typically associated with a minimum of five years’ experience in the design and manufacture of complex electronic systems with a focus on sustaining engineering.
  • Experience with electronics CAD tools, preferably Altium Designer
  • Proven ability to meet tight timelines
  • Basic understanding of the principles of mechanical engineering and software development
  • Board level analog and digital circuit design experience
  • Structured, logical thinker with excellent judgment and pragmatic work approach
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively across multiple disciplines and functions at various levels of the organization

Nice to Have: 

  • Experience with medical device design and quality requirements

Compensation  

Kardium has listed the total cash compensation range (base salary + 5% RRSP contribution) that we expect to pay applicants for this role, as of the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. For candidates with more or less experience than listed above, the pay range will be adjusted. 

As a permanent employee, you will also participate in Kardium’s stock option plan. 

  • $103,000 – 132,000 (CAD Annually)
