To achieve this, we have developed The Globe® Pulsed Field System – we have a fantastic technical team that has developed a product with strong, unique, and customer-valued differentiators versus other solutions on the market. We have built connections with key opinion leaders who are already using the Globe System and are helping to tell our story.

We have now completed our pivotal clinical study and our focus is on regulatory approvals and commercial launch. This is an exciting and significant milestone in our journey to bring this ground-breaking technology to patients.

­As a Team Lead on the Cardiac Mapping team, you will lead take on a leadership role within the team that is focussed on developing the algorithms necessary to process electrical, anatomical, and spatial information collected during cardiac ablation procedures to generate the 3-dimensional maps used by electrophysiologists during catheter ablation. You would have the opportunity to bring your creative and innovative ideas to help Kardium achieve its goal of helping improve people’s lives.

Please note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.

Meaningful work you will be a part of

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Be responsible for the successful development of projects in cardiac mapping
  • Plan team research and development tasks to achieve quality and on-time delivery of project goals
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to biomedical algorithms engineers that report to you
  • Act as an independent problem-solver, finding ways to connect customer-facing deliverables to appropriate technical problem statements and solutions
  • Systematically analyze large multivariate data sets of electrophysiological and procedural data
  • Complete algorithm design and numerical analysis for contact assessment, electrophysiology, and ablation related design improvements
  • Conduct literature search and review
  • Complete procedural data reviews and investigations
  • Create technical documentation of analyses, experiments and results
  • Design bench test experiments

What you bring to the team

You will be successful in this role because you possess these attributes:

  • Either a bachelor’s or a graduate degree in engineering, biophysics or equivalent field addressing quantitative biology
  • Data analysis and algorithm development skills and knowledge normally acquired through at least five years of working experience
  • Leadership and managerial skills and knowledge normally acquired through at least two years of working experience.
  • A solid understanding of the principles of experimental design
  • Experience with programming for data analysis, including object-oriented programming. Emphasis on MATLAB or Python. Experience with software development in a team environment is also an asset.
  • Strong understanding of foundational topics in applied mathematics including calculus, linear algebra, and statistics.
  • Familiarity with a selection of advanced topics in applied mathematics that support clinical algorithm design. These topics could include:
    • Three-dimensional tracking/navigation, point clouds or computational geometry
    • Image processing, medical imaging algorithms, or computer vision
    • Signal processing (e.g. Fourier analysis, FIR and IIR filters, wavelet analysis), especially biosignal processing
  • Multivariate statistics, machine learning, or optimization
  • Effective written and verbal communication of technical subject matter
  • The aptitude for working independently and balancing multiple tasks while maintaining your attention to detail
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to find the right level of detail for the right audience, especially with technical content.
  • Knowledge of cardiac electrophysiology is an asset

Compensation

Kardium has listed the total cash compensation range (base salary + 5% RRSP contribution) that we expect to pay applicants for this role, as of the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. For candidates with more or less experience than listed above, the pay range will be adjusted.

As a permanent employee, you will also participate in Kardium’s stock option plan.

  • $120,000 - $140,000 (CAD Annually)
