To achieve this, we have developed The Globe® Pulsed Field System – we have a fantastic technical team that has developed a product with strong, unique, and customer-valued differentiators versus other solutions on the market. We have built connections with key opinion leaders who are already using the Globe System and are helping to tell our story.

We have now completed our pivotal clinical study and our focus is on regulatory approvals and commercial launch. This is an exciting and significant milestone in our journey to bring this ground-breaking technology to patients.

We are seeking a Clinical Engineer to drive product design and use improvements by facilitating communication between technical teams at Kardium and clinical and pre-clinical users of the product, and leading technical investigations with input from across technical disciplines to identify, develop, and support the roll-out of product improvements.

Please note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.

Meaningful work you will be a part of

As a Clinical Engineer, you will be an integral part of our multidisciplinary engineering team, working across the clinical, electrical, software, biomedical research, mechanical, usability, and risk management domains. Your daily activities will center around supporting clinical activities and becoming a system-level domain expert who contributes to design and process development and leads clinical system investigations. You will get to attend local and remote sites as part of this role. Your responsibilities will be to:

  • Support and observe clinical use:
    • Work with Kardium Field Clinical Specialists, providing oversight and input to ensure consistent, safe, and effective use of the product.
    • Collect feedback and observations from clinical use, ensure appropriate follow-up, and close the loop by communicating product changes and improvements back to clinical users of the product.
    • Provide direct support to clinical cases as a Clinical Specialist, both as a Software operator during procedures and supporting physician use of Hardware.
    • Up to 20% travel to trial sites – locally, North America and Europe.
  • Support and participate in pre-clinical use:
    • Act as an interventionalist to support the Kardium Research team on execution of pre-clinical studies.
    • Collect hands-on feedback and observations from pre-clinical use and provide input on new features and product changes.
    • Evaluate whether observations in pre-clinical use may impact clinical use and lead to appropriate follow-up.
  • Deliver training to Field Clinical Specialists:
    • With full Clinical Specialist training, you will be qualified to deliver training to Field Clinical Specialists.
    • Review and contribute to training documentation.
  • Conduct clinical and pre-clinical investigations:
    • Using your product knowledge and field experience, determine the scope and direction of new investigations that may lead to product improvements.
    • Design and implement analysis tools and provide input to Product Management, Systems, Mapping, and Software teams on areas for improvement and new feature development.
  • Provide clinical engineering support across Kardium:
    • Advise the Clinical Operations, Product Training, and other teams on best-practice clinical usage of the Globe system.

You will be successful in this role because you possess these attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or life-science.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and technical documentation skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills, even under time/pressure constraints.
  • Broad experience with Software, Electrical, and Mechanical systems design.
  • Strong background and aptitude with hands-on device usage, specifically handling percutaneous catheters and standard interventional cardiology and electrophysiology tools and equipment.
  • Experience with MATLAB.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Ability to travel to the US and Europe.

Compensation

Kardium has listed the total cash compensation range (base salary + 5% RRSP contribution) that we expect to pay applicants for this role, as of the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. For candidates with more or less experience than listed above, the pay range will be adjusted.

As a permanent employee, you will also participate in Kardium’s stock option plan.

  • $70,000 - $95,000 (CAD Annually)
