Journeyperson Plumber / Gasfitter Mechanic

The Journeyperson Plumber / Gasfitter Mechanic is responsible for snaking drain lines, detecting and repairing leaks, and maintaining plumbing systems. They also perform general building maintenance, assist with HVAC tasks, collaborate with contractors, and ensure compliance with safety codes.
Typical Duties:
- Snaking drain lines, looking for leaks, repairing plumbing lines.
- Maintain storm sanitary and water piping system.
- Assemble and install or replace valves and fittings.
- Plumbing installations, maintenance, and emergencies, renovations, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
- Tracking and completing work orders, assisting Maintenance technicians as required, project work, preventative maintenance, and other assigned duties.
- Carrying out or assisting with preventative maintenance tasks on a wide range of HVAC equipment under 400,000 British Thermal Units (BTUs).
- Troubleshooting for minor repairs to HVAC systems, collaborating with contractors for major maintenance and upgrade projects.
- Responsible for carrying out work in compliance with applicable safety codes.
Experience/Education Preferences:
- Journeyperson Plumber Certification with 5+ years in the following trades: Plumber and Gas Fitter, required (red seal is considered an asset).
- At least 5 years of experience in snaking and clearing blockages in the drain system is required.
- A Class Gas Ticket or willingness to apprentice for classification is required.
- Post-secondary education – trades training is required.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Backflow Certification is desired.
- Precise workmanship and strong interpersonal skills are desired.
- Automation experience is an asset.
Other Requirements:
- Must have valid Class 5 driver’s license and satisfactory driver’s abstract.
- Strong ability to multi-task and troubleshoot.
- Ability to meet deadlines and respond calmly to stressful situations.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact with everyone in a respectful manner.
- Participation in the on-call after hours rotation is required.
Details: Full Time, Days, 37.50 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (On-call rotation will be required, premium paid)
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience.
