Shift Hours: Monday- Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm
SUMMARY
The Corporate Fleet Accident Claims and Regulatory Specialist is responsible for mitigating fleet claims, working in conjunction with the Corporate Manager of Risk Management for large claims (ex. Fleet equipment accidents), thoroughly investigate while keeping company and employee rights and needs in mind. Participate in annual Fleet and Property Insurance renewal. This position will manage the collection of regulatory information, and update required files and KPI reporting to various corporate departments.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage investigating coverage, liability, and damage aspects of liability claims for proper resolution within company guidelines.
- Participate in annual Fleet and Property Insurance renewal.
- Works with staff and management in Fleet Maintenance Department to coordinate repairs to damaged equipment.
- Manages claims with representatives from our insurance company to bring claims to resolution.
- Coordinates with repair facilities, recovery companies and branches on getting damaged equipment repaired and back into operations in a timely and efficient manner.
- Negotiates, settlements and resolves motor vehicle accident claims, and property losses with customers and third parties. Authorize and process payments up to $2,500.
- Management and review of all incident reports and claim investigation materials, including Motor Vehicle Accident Reports and Property Damage.
- Conduct claim investigations by gathering all facts to analyse and determine claim liability based on carrier regulations, transportation contract terms, and related company customer consideration practices.
- Evaluate, analyse and interpret incidents in order to determine coverage applicable to the loss.
- Provide regular claims updates and status reports to Management.
- Establishes and manages both hard copy and e-copy accident claim files with all documentation and investigation material housed in chronological order. Ensures accident claim register is current and reconciled to Insurance Company’s loss record and Pre-Funded Claims Account.
- Coordinates and handles all internal claims investigations and communicates the findings internally and to the customer/vendor within a timely manner.
- Perform duties in accordance with industry standards, regulations, corporate timelines, performance standards and workplace safety and health policies and procedures.
- Major fines and tickets to reviewed with and approved by the Director of Safety and Compliance. Review returned checklist and forward any discrepancies onto supervisor.
- Collect, review and process the CVOR information from the Ministry of Transportation. Download of FMCSA violations, review and process. Forward onto Director of Safety & Compliance.
- Maintain KPI Safety Dashboards and provide monthly updates.
- Assist in answering Driver Services inquiries, regarding the above functions either via phone or in person.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of a relevant college diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 1 year of applicable experience in accident claims and regulatory administration preferred.
- CIP Certification strongly recommended but not required.
- Strong knowledge of Excel software required.
- Experience in the Trucking industry and knowledge of applicable equipment is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of insurance regulations and acts, the Highway Traffic Act, and ruling accident preventability an asset.
- Accuracy and precision is required at all times to ensure proper management of claim files.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
- Good judgement, strong decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills.
