Job Title: Professor – Civil Engineering Program

Department: School of Trades and Technology

Location: Commerce Court Campus

Contract Duration: January 6, 2025 to April 17, 2025

The following teaching need is required for in-class delivery:

 

CIV320 Highway Design - 5 hours per week

 

CIV230 Transportation Planning - 4 hours per week

 

Qualifications:

  • Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering Technician and/or Technologist; Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering preferred
  • Experience and background in soil mechanics including basic theory and practices associated with soil description, testing and classification using the Unified Soils Classification System
  • Experience in and/or familiarity with Transportation Design including geometric design, pavement design, hydrology or drainage design and traffic control measures
  • Familiarity with the use of various survey equipment including levels, theodolites, total stations, and GPS Equipment
  • General knowledge in infrastructure systems design would be an asset including natural risk design event selection, climate change impact review and alternative assessment techniques
  • Construction Project Management knowledge considered an asset including natural risk design event selection
  • Knowledge of materials engineering for concrete, wood and steel
  • Knowledge of Civil 3D Transportation Design an asset
  • Previous post-secondary teaching experience informed by excellence with various learning theories and methods
  • Highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies in a post-secondary setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in learning management systems as well as the use of remote delivery and educational technologies
  • Previous teaching experience is an asset

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver and evaluate effective learning related to the course(s)
  • Work closely with students and colleagues to provide an optimal learning environment
  • Perform all responsibilities associated with the learning environment including preparation, delivery, and evaluation of theory and practical learning activities
