Job Title: Subject Matter Expert – Advanced Manufacturing – Additive Manufacturing

Department: School of Trades and Technology

Location: Remote opportunity

Status: Casual Part-Time (Contract Position)

Contract Duration: Immediate need – May 2025

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working in Advanced Manufacturing
  • Understanding of the seven categories of Additive Manufacturing per ASTM standards: Binder Jetting, Directed Energy Deposition, Material Extrusion, Material Jetting, Powder Bed Fusion, Sheet Lamination, and Vat Photopolymerization
  • Practical knowledge of technologies such as Fused Deposition Modeling, Stereolithography, Selective Laser Sintering, Direct Metal Laser Sintering, and Multi Jet Fusion
  • Hands-on experience with 3D printers, including setup, calibration, and maintenance
  • Proficiency in CAD software like SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Rhino, with a focus on DFAM principles
  • Experience in post-processing methods, including support removal, surface finishing, and heat treatments.
  • Experience creating interactive and practical learning experiences
  • Highly effective communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies in a post-secondary setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in learning management systems (Brightspace or Moodle) and the use of remote delivery and educational technologies is an asset
  • Capacity to commit to the course development over the next 4-5 months is required

 

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert and work closely with an Instructional Designer and Program Leader to plan and develop curriculum content
  • Develop a course outline including learning outcomes, evaluations, required resources and learning plans
  • Participate in meetings with various stakeholders to address the proposed course(s)
  • Respond to and amend documents, as required to address internal reviews
