The Role

The role involves developing and managing the Category Management function within OSI's Supply Chain, focusing on strategic sourcing, procurement, contract negotiation, and vendor performance management. The incumbent will create data-driven strategies to enhance purchasing efficiency, streamline processes, and drive value across the supply chain. Collaboration with various OSI departments is essential to ensure timely support and alignment with corporate policies, legal regulations, and contractual obligations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement long-term supply strategies for critical purchased parts.
  • Establish category-based supply strategies, negotiate, and execute long-term contracts.
  • Manage supply categories end-to-end, including demand analytics, sourcing, order management, and risk mitigation.
  • Utilize procurement practices (RFI, RFQ, RFP) tailored to scope complexity.
  • Oversee contract management and supplier performance using best practices.
  • Lead contract negotiations and create strategic plans for beneficial agreements.
  • Identify and evaluate new suppliers, including facility visits as needed.
  • Maintain supplier relationships aligned with OSI's objectives, measure performance with KPIs, and drive continuous improvements.
  • Collaborate across teams to align procurement with program and production requirements.
  • Organize and lead meetings on complex topics with stakeholders of varying seniority.
  • Manage defective materials, ensuring timely repairs or replacements through established processes.
  • Develop and enforce supply chain governance, including policies and procedures.
  • Produce statistical reports and KPIs as required.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of category products and ERP/MRP systems for efficient supply chain practices.
  • Optimize inventory levels across multiple distribution centers and support customer obligations.
  • Mentor junior team members on category management, sourcing, and contract negotiation.

You Bring

Education/Experience:

  • Degree in a relevant field with 7+ years in Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience.
  • Supply Chain certifications (e.g., CPIM, SCMP, CPSM) preferred.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, ISO, JIT, MRP/ERP (Epicor experience is a plus).
  • Proven track record managing POs, supplier contracts, RFX processes, and vendor scorecards.
  • Background in engineering or technical procurement, ideally in manufacturing or electronic product development (marine experience an asset).

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of supplier and operations management, negotiation, cost-benefit analysis, logistics, and ISO standards.
  • Proficiency in technical documentation, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication, attention to detail, and teamwork.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
